Alcatraz is one of San Francisco's most popular visitor attractions and its tours frequently sell out a week or more in advance. Tickets are rarely available at the Box Office for same-day sailings. The Alcatraz Ferry and Audio Tour departs daily from Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. The tour listed below is a Combination tour. We DO NOT not sell Alcatraz tours without a 2nd tour.

The Golden Gate Loop departs daily at 9:00 AM or 4:00 PM. Golden Gate loop is NOT a Hop on Hop off.

The combined tour lasts for around 2 - 3 hours if you don't get off, but we recommend taking a full day to enjoy the city. Feel free to walk over the Golden Gate Bridge, spend an afternoon in Union Square, shop in Pacific Heights , enjoy the views from the Marina, dine in Chinatown or relax in North Beach, all at your own pace, without restrictions.

Alcatraz Ferry and Tour Info:

After a short 10 minute ferry ride from Pier 33 across San Francisco Bay you will arrive on the infamous Alcatraz Island. The tour includes a movie of Alcatraz history and a 35 minute audio headset tour of an Alcatraz cell block. This audio tour is available in 6 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.

To reach the Cell House, you must walk up a steep hill. In addition to the famous prison, Alcatraz features some of the most spectacular views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge from the beautifully landscaped Agave Trail.
The trail begins near the ferryboat landing on the east side of Alcatraz and continues just above the water level to the southern tip of the island. A walk along the trail winds through a protected bird sanctuary, ending at a stone stairway, which leads to the parade ground, formerly ringed by the houses of guards and their families.

Please note that the walk to the Alcatraz Cellhouse is on steep, uneven pavement. SEAT (Sustainable Easy Access Transport) is available for wheelchair users and visitors unable to walk to quarter mile, 12% upgrade. No animals (except certified service animals) are allowed on Alcatraz Island.

After the tour there is time to visit the Alcatraz Museum, the bookshop and explore the island. Stay as long as you like ferries depart every 1/2 hour back to San Francisco.

Average time spent on Alcatraz is 1 1/2 - 3 hours.

Alcatraz Cruises provide the Alcatraz ferry and tickets for the Cellhouse audio tour portion of this combination ticket. Alcatraz is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Alcatraz Cruises is a concessionaire of the National Park Service.

Hotel pick up is not available.

The tour schedule for the day depends on the availability for Alcatraz ferry tickets.

For example, if Alcatraz Ferry is available in the morning; You will pick up tickets for the Alcatraz Ferry direct from the Pier 33 "Will Call" window. After your Alcatraz Tour you return to the CitySightseeing San Francisco Office to join either the Downtown Loop for any of the afternoon departures or the Golden Gate Loop for the 4:00 PM departure. The Downtown Loop departs every hour between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM in the Spring and Summer.

If there is no availability for Alcatraz ferry in the morning, upon arrival at Fisherman's Wharf you will start with any of the AM Downtown Loop Tour departures or the Golden Gate Lop at 9:00 AM, your choice, and then continue to Pier 33 and the Alcatraz Ferry and Tour in the afternoon.

For every confirmed booking you will receive 2 e-mails with your E-Ticket Vouchers - when both parts of your combo tour booking are confirmed. Please present this E-Ticket voucher at the CitySightseeing SF Tour Office. The 2nd email will be your voucher for the Alcatraz reservation.

Alcatraz Tickets are held at Pre-Paid Will Call:

Your Alcatraz boarding tickets will be held at the Alcatraz Cruises Dock at PIER 33.
When you present your Alcatraz Voucher, picture ID and credit card used on the reservation transaction the boarding tickets are issued. Be sure to show up 30 to 45 minutes before your Alcatraz cruise! Tickets may not be picked up prior to the tour date.
